"limber tail"

Poor Scooter. Woke up this morning and couldn't wag her tail. She looks so sad, and the tail looks dead, no matter how excited she is. I looked it up on the internet, and turns out esp. labs get "limber tail" when they have exerted themselves too much (like a strained muscle), esp. when swimming. ha! It should go away in a few days with rest (luckily Scoots is an expert at that). Also called "cold water tail," "dead tail," and, saddest of all, "broken wag." Poor Scootie.
